Hellllo July! I hope you all are enjoying your Summer so far! Summer seems to already be flying by so we’ve been busy checking away at our Summer Bucket List over here. One of our favorite things to do as a family is to cuddle up on the couch, make popcorn and watch a movie together so we kicked it up a notch with a backyard movie night. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do with the kids so cheers to Summer memories in the making!
With school out, and bedtimes sometimes out the window, I thought it would be fun to have an outdoor movie night complete with the big screen and projector. The kids loved being outside in the yurt at Ava’s birthday party (full post HERE) so I knew they would love our movie night under the stars. The hardest decision of the whole set up was choosing what movie to watch, everything else was super easy and took all of 10 minutes to set up.
I gathered our biggest blankets, poufs, cushions and trays and arranged it all in front of the screen. I shared these outdoor bean bag chairs last week on my insta stories and the kids LOVE them! Pretty much everything we used was from Target, Amazon and World Market.
I know a lot of you had asked about the projector and screen and I got both of them from Amazon. The projector we got was This One HERE and the Screen was this ONE. Highly recommend both (and my husband was able to put the screen together in under 10 mins).
I added string lights from Target to give the screen an old school cinema vibe and it totally worked. The lights didn’t detract from the movie at all and they looked even better after the sun went down!
And what movie night is complete without snacks?!
It was such a fun night and I know this is now going to be the kids’ special treat because they loved it so much! Now that we own a projector and screen I am sure we will be doing this for years to come. On another note, how fun would a moms night in version of this be!?!
Hi! Do you mind sharing where the blanket is from?
Love this setup! I can’t wait to get our projector back out this fall. Seeing this inspires me to indulge into quality time and have a family movie night.
these kind of nights are the best!
