Spring is in full swing here in SoCal and I’ve started transitioning my makeup routine accordingly. This time of year I tend to step up my skin care regimen and protection, my foundation gets lighter and the bronzers and highlights come into play. Today I’m sharing a little makeup bag spill of some of my Spring Makeup Favorites…
Skincare + Protection
I’m sure we are all on the same page when those warmer months hit it’s all about lighter makeup right?! I have definitely always been a medium to full coverage foundation kind of girl (my favorite it this one HERE in the color Buff) but it’s really nice giving my skin a little breather in the warmer months. Going lighter on the foundation means my skin really needs to be on point so I kick up that skin care regimen. I start using my Glo Pro micro needling tool 3-4 times per week (highly recommend!), These Peel Pads 2-3 times a week and I never leave the house without my favorite makeup primer that has SPF in it (OBSESSED with this one and have you girls to thank for it that recommended it last year!). Getting my skin at a clear and healthy starting point makes it so much easier to go lighter on the coverage. If you are interested in more info on my daily skincare regimen breakdown I did really in depth post HERE.
Coverage
My go-to for lighter coverage in the Spring/Summer is this CC cream(in light to medium). I’ve tried several and really have been loving this one lately. I also really like this tinted moisturizer as well but feel like I’m struggling a little bit to find the perfect color match for my skin. If you girls have a tinted moisturizer you swear by, I’d love to hear!
Concealer is a no brainer! I use this reddish color stick to color correct and neutralize my dark Sicilian under eye circles. Then I use this creamy concealer (which has been a great and less expensive option to my holy grail Clé de Peau concealer). I think concealer is probably the one item I can’t do without 😉
Bronze + Highlight
I’m all about that contour all year round but in the Spring/Summer I go all in with it. This Highlight/Contour Palette has been a staple in my makeup drawer for YEARS and while it’s pricey, it literally lasts forever. The highlight is one of the most natural ones I’ve tried. I also love this foundation stick (down the sides of my nose, underneath my cheekbones and along my hairline and temples) for a natural looking contour and a little J Lo kind of bronze. The key is to go about 2-3 shades darker than your natural skin tone.
Lips
You girls know I am kind of a creature of habit with my lip color. I love my Velvet Teddy and Stripdown lip combo because it looks like your natural lip but a little more enhanced. I venture out with some different colors here are there but that color is pretty much my go to. If you follow along on insta you girls probably saw I got to meet Kim Kardashian when she opened up her pop up shop here in South Coast Plaza. I got this lipstick and lipliner combo and it’s actually really great. I’ve been wearing the lipstick in the color #4 Nude and the lip liner in Nude #1 . I don’t think it sold at department stores (only her site) but if you’ve been thinking about trying her lipsticks, I have to say the consistency and colors are pretty amazing.
Spring/Summer always means glossy and natural to me and while I haven’t worn lipgloss in years, I’ve noticed it really making a come back. I love a matte lip but started adding a little bit of this lip gloss over my natural nude lip and love the playful touch it adds.
Final Touches
Mascara is always the last step and my go-to is This One by Marc Jacobs or the This One by Too Faced I’ve been using for years. Both give incredible buildable volume and don’t clump. I also always finish my look with a little setting powder and This One is my favorite. I don’t have really oily skin but do find in the Summertime I need to add a little powder to get me through the entire day. Lastly, a little touch of this Nars Orgasm Loose Powder on the apples of my cheeks adds a playful glow and pop of color (FYI a little goes a long way!)
and these are my Spring/Summer makeup favorites! As always I LOVE hearing your favorites too!
Hi Andee…do you use the glow pro microneedling tool under your eyes?
Thanks!
Hi babe I don’t but now i’m wondering if you can? I have super sensitive eyes so I usually just steer clear in general.
