Alright my lovelies today we’re talking about one of my favorite things to make…a cheese plate! I mean who doesn’t love a cheese plate?! I don’t typically make it just for the hubby and I (although I may start now because Ava dominated the cheese, crackers and salami 😉 but whenever we have friends over I love to throw one together! They’re super easy and guests are always impressed! I posted a picture of this one on my instagram last week and wanted to do a breakdown for you of all the items I used. I kept this one pretty simple because I wanted to show you how you could make a great plate with only using items from good old Trader Joes. So lets get started!
I purchased this slate cheese board years ago and have used it SO much!
We only had a few friends over so I kept it to three cheeses for this plate. This garlic and fine herbs cheese is always a hit and I love that it comes in a round shape so makes for a prettier presentation. For the other two cheese I picked a Brie and parmesan (both in a wedge form).
This cracker assortment is a great one if you’re on a budget. It has four different kind of crackers and is usually more than enough! I picked up these breadsticks and wrapped the ends with prosciutto and the guys loved them! I think next time I will look for a thinner/smaller breadstick as these were a little larger than I would have preferred. I usually get our olives from the fresh olive bar at Whole Foods until I came across these Lucques Olives from Traders. They taste just as great and are budget friendly. As for meats I pretty much always go with salami and prosciutto because they’re always a hit. The last part is my favorite.. the garnishes! I’m addicted to the candied walnuts from Traders so I sprinkles them around the plate. I add a nice amount of honey on top of the Brie cheese and then crush up a few of the candied walnuts on top. Lastly I always add some sort of dried fruit. I’ve done figs and dried cherries in the past but this time I went with dried apricots! For the olives I put them in a little ramekin and clipped a couple olive branches from our olive tree outside to add a little something more to the plate. You can also use a rosemary sprig! So there you have it, a pretty cheese plate using items from Traders!
I hope this was helpful and thank you for your Trader Joe’s cheese recommendations on Instagram…i’ll be looking into the those next!!
* I also pinned a couple Wine and Cheese pairing charts on my Pinterest Entertaining board for those of you who are interested in that!
Love this! We recently tried Trader's Rosemary Raisin Crisps with the Boursin cheese — so yummy! I'm not a raisin fan, but that cracker cheese combo is great! Thanks for sharing your cheese plate! Where did you get the ramekin and slate from? xoxo
yes yes love those crisps too! I linked to the slate in the post (crate and barrel) and the ramekin was from TJMAXX but you can buy them at crate and barrel as well xo
Cheese plates are my favorite. My mom alway had them for her parties and were so yummy. I recently tried a new recipe with salami – baking it into crisps or chips. They are so good. You can find the recipe on my blog in the recipe page!

yum that sounds great!
Great spread, Andee! Love the idea of wrapping the prosciutto around breadsticks; I always struggle with how to present it.
thanks amanda I also kind of stack in its own little pile as well. Doesn't have to be perfect but looks nice stacked loosely and everyone eats it up!
Hi there! What was the total cost of the cheese plate? Thanks so much!
Just found a slate platter almost identical to this at Target! Had to share! http://www.target.com/p/thirstystone-slate-cheese-board/-/A-17408549
