If girls you follow along on instagram you saw we ventured out to Palm Springs to celebrate the hubby’s birthday earlier this week. I haven’t been to the desert in December in YEARS. It was super chilly but I actually really loved the change. We stayed at The Avalon Hotel (formerly The Viceroy) and can’t believe Luca was only 5 weeks old the last time we stayed there! I dont know about you but I swear this year has gone by in a freakin’ blink! Anyhow here we go with some random shots from our quick desert get away!
Not mad at this view! |
a little Syrup Samplin’ at Kings Highway Cafe 😉 It’s definitely one of our favorite breakfast spots!
If you’re headed to Palm Springs i’d also recommend checking out Cheeky’s (tons of yummy items not the menu including an amazing bacon flight….but be warned there is a long wait on the weekends), The Farm and The Purple Palm at The Colony Hotel are also great breakfast spots.
This view ALWAYS warms my heart!
I swear this little love has grown up SO much over the last year! |
Ava lives in THESE PURPLE UGGS (now on SALE 40% OFF!) and i’ve been eyeing THESE too 😉
Desert Charm EVERYWHERE!
If you follow along on SnapChat (AndeeLayne) you saw we went to the Living Desert Zoo and had SO much fun! I went there as a kid and lets just say it has grown tremendously since then! If you have little ones I HIGHLY suggest taking them there! (They do giraffe feedings twice a day and is such a neat experience) We also got to ride a camel (I tried to upload my snapchat video at the end of this post so we’ll see if it works) xo
xoxoxo
Staying cozy fireside with some vino after the babes were in bed! |
For dinner we just stayed at our hotel and ate at Chi Chi’s restaurant. We sat poolside in the most charming little set up (you can also see it on my snapchat video below) and the food was REALLY good! I usually like to venture off property for dinner when we go out of town but the kids were already getting fussy at 6:00 so we wanted to stay close. I’m glad we did because I was really impressed with the food there.
Some of my other favorite Palm Springs dinner spots are The Workshop Kitchen + Bar (more modern and trendy and good if you’re dining without kids;) and Las Casuelaz which is the happening mexican spot on the main strip. Oh and you definitely want to hit up Great Shakes for the best milkshakes of your lifffe!
First things first.
Chilly desert mornings call for my favorite Colorful Cardigan // Janessa Leone Hat (from 3+ years ago newer style HERE and HERE) // Dark Wash Skinnies // Current Elliott V-neck Tee // Marble Print Phone Case
We stayed in the same charming 2 bedroom villa as last time! (bonus when you come in December it’s almost half the price as the Spring rates)
and Pancakes and Candles first thing while these little hamburgers help daddy blow out the candles 😉
Here’s a quick look at my snapchat post I did while we were there (sorry I couldn’t get it to load any larger for some reason)
Some of my other favorite hotels are The Colony (good for a more relaxing chill getaway), The Parker (a little more Trendy/Hipster but also great for kids), La Quinta Resort (excellent for kids, or if you’re traveling with multi families. It’s a huge property and more budget friendly) and if you’re looking for more of a party scene check out The Riviera (not so kid friendly).
Hope this helps and i’m sure well be in the desert again in a few months so please share your favorite spots if you ladies have some!
Love your Palm Springs posts!! I stayed at the Parker in September and when you go back, you must go to Tropicale for dinner – the yummiest salads ever! And they have something on the menu for everyone! You can see my pictures here: http://www.sunflowersandsuburbs.blogspot.com/2015/09/the-parker-palm-springs.html
Merry Christmas!
